RSCH Accident and Emergency Waiting Room Extension

The firm have just started the Design and Contract Management an extension of the A&E waiting room for the Royal Surrey County Hospital. Restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic meant that patients had to queue to get into A&E which was situated right by the front entrance to the main hospital. The Trust therefore decided to expand the current waiting room to increase capacity and reduce queues, and we were appointed to design and oversee the construction of the extension works to the waiting room by infilling the undercroft area by the current Emergency Department Entrance.

Completion of RSCH Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit Extension and Winter Measures

AEC Extension

As part of the Winter Resilience Programme, the Ambulatory Emergency Care Extension (AEC) was built to provide a drop-in unit for ambulatory emergency referral cases to the Royal Surrey County Hospital. Works included the internal reconfiguration of the existing emergency assessment unit to accommodate 10no trolley and chair bays, 23 person waiting room and a new reception and triage (rapid assessment unit), MDT Room, a 6-bed bay, and Consulting / Isolation Bed Room, Staff base, clean and dirty utility rooms.

Completion of RSCH Level G Maternity Operating Theatres and Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) Reconfiguration and Roof De-Watering Works.

New Maternity Operating Theatre

In September 2020 the firm completed the handover of a £3 Million refurbishment project to Maternity at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford. The brief was to convert existing accommodation to a new operating theatre suite with prep rooms, anaesthetic room, scrub room, utility rooms and 2-bed recovery bay for maternity, and the reconfiguration of the SCBU to accommodate 2no 6 cot bays, 2no isolation cot rooms, family lounge and offices.
